Syria Latest: UN Security Council to Meet as Russia Denies Attacks in Douma

The United Nations Security Council is planning to meet Friday morning at the request of Russia.

It comes as the U.S. and its allies are deciding how to respond to the deadly chlorine gas attack in Syria.

President Trump tweeted about possible missile strikes in Syria earlier this week but potential conflict with Russia is pausing any plan.

Russia, the country’s main ally, is denying the attack in Douma even happened.

Russia sent a military convoy there on Thursday, concerned about military action.

The U.S. Defense Secretary says deciding on a response is complicated because they don’t want the situation to escalate out of control.

International chemical weapons investigators are expected to start looking into the reported chlorine gas attack in Douma on Saturday.
