Open Meetings Act Lawsuit Against Grand Traverse Co. Thrown Out

A lawsuit against Grand Traverse County has now thrown out by Judge Kevin Elsenheimer.

The lawsuit started after Grand Traverse County commissioners went into closed session back in February to discuss another lawsuit involving Alan Halloway’s death inside the Grand Traverse County Jail.

A plaintiff claimed that it violated the state’s Open Meetings Act.

Prosecutor Bob Cooney said the judge determined the lawsuit had no merit on Monday, but there is still a chance it could be appealed.
