President Trump Condemns Syrian Attacks

The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency session today to talk about a suspected chemical attack in Syria.

40 people were killed in the attack on Saturday near the rebel-held town of Douma.

It’s not clear who is behind it but Syria and its allies, including Russia, are not taking responsibility.

President Trump condemned the attack in this series of tweets:

Some lawmakers believe this will be a defining moment for President Trump because he already challenged Syrians not to use chemical weapons, and they feel the US needs respond forcefully because the country didn’t listen.

The president’s new national security adviser, John Bolton, starts his job Monday in the face of this difficult issue.
