EPA Report Says Lake Huron in “Fair” Condition

Lake Huron is currently in “fair” condition.

That’s according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which released a plan to tackle the most serious threats facing the lake and the St. Marys River.

The E.P.A. says the greatest threats to the lake’s water quality and ecosystem health are invasive species, chemical contaminants and nutrient pollution.

The report was developed under the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, which calls for the U.S. and Canada to issue plans for each of the Great Lakes every five years.
