Woman Dies in Kalkaska County Crash

A woman is dead and two others are in critical condition after a car crash in Kalkaska County Tuesday night.

It happened on M-72, east of Hill Road in Clearwater Township.

The Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office says a man driving westbound on M-72 lost control in his Toyota and hit an eastbound Chevy Equinox.

Deborah Shelagowski of Williamsburg was driving the Chevy and was taken to the hospital. She is in serious condition. Also in the car with her was 80-year-old Dorothy Korson who is in critical condition as well.

Her back seat passenger, 51-year-old Betty Lou-Korson Send of Williamsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Benjamin Thorman driving the Toyota is expected to be OK.

Weather, road conditions and speed, police say, are all factors in the crash.
