American Red Cross Unites for Giving Day

American Red Cross month is coming to an end and the Red Cross is asking for help to keep their mission going.

Wednesday was giving day for the American Red Cross as they raised money to help people struck with tragedy throughout the year.

Any donation the Red Cross receives between $10 and $225,000 is being matched.

The northern Michigan chapter of the Red Cross says donations are in greater need this year because of the number of house fires they’ve been responding to this year.

People can also designate their donations to go directly to the northern Michigan chapter.

“Because it’s been such an unusual year with the increased number of fires that we’ve had, the donation today will really make a difference in Northern Michigan. We really need that assistance so we can provide the help for those families and those individuals,” said Executive Director Cathy Anthofer-Fialon, Ph.D.
