Iron Fish Distillery Named One of ‘Michigan 50 Companies to Watch’ for 2018

Iron Fish Distillery in Thompsonville is one of the 2018 “Michigan 50 Companies to Watch”—which is an awards program by Michigan that celebrates small businesses.

The program received more than 600 nominations this year, but it’s no surprise Iron Fish was selected.

They are Michigan’s first working-farm, growing and sourcing local grain to distill their spirits while respecting nearby watersheds.

The distillery opened less than two years ago.

It’s already earned several awards, including one of their gins named a top 30 Spirits of the World in 2017 by the international publication Cigar and Spirits Magazine.

Sarah Anderson, a partner at the distillery, says they are grateful to the community that nominated them.

“It’s an amazing honor, something that you really wouldn’t expect when you’ve only been in business about 19 months, but we feel just super gratified for the support that we’re receiving from the communities around us and the success we’re having in statewide distribution with the spirits, as well as the quality of the people that we’ve been able to attract to work at Iron Fish.”

Iron fish will be honored in Lansing in May, during the 14th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business gala event.
