Traverse City Christian School Supports “PoWeR! Book Bags” For National Reading Month

Elementary students at Traverse City Christian School scoured their shelves and donated more than 1,100 books to “PoWeR! Bookbags,” an organization that gives out reading material to children in need.

Roughly 100 elementary students participated as part of a reading month initiative to help the organization.

Students presented the organization’s founder, Kara Gregory, with the books during chapel Monday morning.

Gregory says that there is a huge need for these books.

“It’s a great way that they’re celebrating the power of reading for themselves and for the world. They’re really making the world a better place because they are thinking of other kids and what they like to do. They are beautiful books that the children loved with their heart and gave to other children so it’s pretty big on many levels,” Gregory said.

“PoWeR! Bookbags” serves six counties and gives away more than a 1,000 books every month.
