Pedestrian Bridge Collapses at Florida International University

At least six people are dead and nine injured after a pedestrian bridge at Florida International University collapsed.

The university says the bridge was under construction when it went down.

The 950 ton section of the bridge was put up on Saturday.

University officials say the bridge was being built using accelerated bridge construction methods, which is supposed to reduce potential risks to workers, commuters and pedestrians.

Several vehicles were under the bridge when it collapsed.

There could still be bodies recovered under the rubble.

At this time it’s not known if anyone was on the bridge.
