Two Shot in Antrim County, Suspect Now in Custody

An Antrim County man is now in custody, deputies say he shot two people on Saturday and fled from the cops on a stolen snowmobile.

Antrim County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a break-in at home on M-66 in Chestonia Township early Saturday evening.

Deputies say they found the homeowner inside suffering from gunshot wounds and found a juvenile nearby with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The homeowner was airlifted to Munson Medical Center, the juvenile was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

State Police K9 Units followed the trail of the suspect.

Deputies say they discovered that another home on Old Alba Highway was broken into.

That’s where police say the suspect took a snowmobile and fled.

A State Police helicopter spotted the trail of the snowmobile and followed the suspect south into Kalkaska County.

They located the suspect hiding behind a Kalkaska County home.

State police and deputies from the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s office were able to take the Mancelona man into custody early Sunday morning.

The suspect is being held in the Antrim County Jail and is awaiting arraignment.
