Cocaine Dealer Charged In Benzie County After TNT Investigation

“Bottom line is we took a very, very bad individual off the street,” said Benzie County Sheriff Ted Schendel.

The Traverse Narcotics Team say Steven Loope is a high-level drug dealer.

Now, he’s awaiting trial.

The investigation started early last year after TNT received multiple tips from the community.

They tell us Loope distributed a large amount of cocaine into the community.

Loope was arraigned on Thursday and he’s’ charged with delivery of cocaine, conspiracy to deliver cocaine, witness intimidation and three felonies for operating a drug house.

Loope was on parole when he ran away to Arizona to avoid getting arrested.

“He was bringing up all the poison from downstate, bringing it up here and distributing it to anybody and everybody and that includes our kids,” said Sheriff Schendel. “So we want to give our kids a fighting chance here in Benzie County, in Grand Traverse area, in Leelanau .”

A trial date has not been set yet but stay with Northern Michigan’s’ news leader for any new developments.
