Third Suicide Attempt at Grand Traverse County Jail in Two Weeks

There has been another suicide attempt at the Grand Traverse County Jail, the third in less than two weeks.

The Traverse City Police Department tells us the incident happened on Saturday but was just reported Tuesday.

A deputy was doing her rounds when she noticed the 29-year-old Traverse City man not responding.

She went in the cell and pulled the blanket off and saw the man with his hands around his neck.

The deputy was able to stop him and the man did not suffer any injuries.

This is now the second suicide attempt deputies were able to stop at the jail within a week.

Last week an inmate did commit suicide at the jail.

We have submitted requests for information about suicide attempts at the jail over the last year.

We are still waiting on a response.
