Jack O’Malley Announces Candidacy for 101st District

Jack O’Malley has officially announced his candidacy in running for the 101st District State Representative.

“I intend to take the same passion, patriotism and perseverance to the State Legislature in Lansing and fight for the people of Northern Michigan there,” said O’Malley.

If selected he will replace Rep. Curt VanderWall.

“I wanted to represent, lead and take of the people of Northern, Michigan,” O’Malley said.

O’Malley announced that he plans to step down from his radio show on April 24th.

He is hosting two campaign parties. The first will be Thursday, March 8th at 6pm at Papa J’s in Lake Ann and the other Saturday, March 10th in Manistee.

Running against him will be Kathy Weijaczka, who announced her bid for the Democratic seat in the same district Tuesday.

The 101st District is currently represented by Curt VanderWall, who recently announced his plans to run for state Senate.

The district covers Benzie, Leelanau, Manistee and Mason counties.
