Suspicious Substance Found on Military Base, Sends Three to Hospital

The FBI is investigating a suspicious substance found at a Virginia military base that sent three people to the hospital.

The unidentified substance was found inside a letter opened Tuesday, in an administrative building at joint base Meyer-Henderson Hall.

A total of 11 people reported feeling sick with burning hands and face, sore throats and at least one person had a nose bleed.

Three people were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition.

Initial field tests of the letter came back negative for harmful substances.

The FBI is now testing the letter in a lab.

The base is next to Arlington National Cemetery and is the home to several top commanders, including members of the joints chiefs of staff.
