Local Retiree Delivers Handmade Pillows to Long Lake Elementary School

A local retiree visited a Traverse City elementary school Friday with pillows in hand.

James Delong handmade pillows for Long Lake Elementary School.

TCAPS says the beautiful creations now have a home in the school’s library, providing some comfort to students as they learn and grow.

It’s a gift everyone is excited to put to good use.

“They were just excited to jump up and down and receive the pillows, especially that they were all unique, special different designs. And I think the fact that Jim made them himself, that tender loving care, it really came across to them,” said Linda Melvin, a second grade teacher at Long Lake Elementary School.

And James isn’t done.

He says this is the first of many stops he plans to make a TCAPS.
