Veterans Housing USA To Host First Fundraiser Called “Rock The Shop”

A Northern Michigan non-profit is hoping to raise $20,000 in the hopes of buying a home for veterans.

Veterans Housing USA is hosting its first ever fundraiser called Rock the Shop in Traverse City Thursday night.

There will be a number of activities happening at this event hosted at the Workshop Brewing Company and we got a chance to learn about the worthy cause it supports.

“I couldn’t imagine a better way that we could thank our service members,” Mike Griffith, President of Veterans Housing USA.

As a Marine Corp Veteran, Mike wants to change the lives of other veterans struggling to find housing.

“By making the listing affordable making something that can get into quickly and easily as possible and affordable. The amount of stress that you would be taking off these families that are transitioning is unimaginable,” Griffith said.

The non-profit’s main goal is to buy a house to help local vets in Traverse City.

“If we meet our $20,000 goal then were going to turn right back around and purchase one of the properties we have our eyes on. If you like seeing a bunch of live music we’ve got four bands. If you’re a sports fan we’ve got sports items to bid on,” Griffith said.

By coming to this event not only are you going to have a good time you’re supporting a great cause.

By coming out and donating you are directly helping support making affordable housing possible for veterans in Traverse City.
