Michael’s Place Receives $50,000 Grant to Expand Services

A place whose mission is to provide support and advocacy for those grieving the death of a loved one can now expand their services thanks to a big grant.

Michael’s Place just announced Monday that they received a $50,000 grant from the New York Life Foundation.

They provide services at no cost to children, their families, educators and community members.

This includes in-school support groups, community workshops, expressive actives for children and many other resources.

“To be able to reach children and youth in some of these areas that we’ve not been able to serve prior to now, or that they won’t be able to necessarily come to us, can make a tremendous impact for grieving children,” said Connie Wintziner, Michael’s Place development director.

Right now they offer services in Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Benzie, Antrim and Leelanau counties, but they will expand to Wexford and Missaukee counties.
