Iron Fish Distillery Portugal Bound for Whiskey Tasting Event
A Northern Michigan distillery is flying out for the trip of a lifetime and taking whiskey with them.
Iron Fish Distillery in Thompsonville has been invited to take part in a whiskey tasting event in Lisbon, Portugal.
They’re one of just seven American small distilleries to be invited, chosen for their use of Portuguese wood in their barrels.
Distillery owners say this is a wonderful opportunity to take Michigan’s growing craft beverage industry worldwide.
“We think it really showcases what’s capable of being produced in Michigan by small craft distilleries. The fact that the ambassador specifically asked that we attend, we’re super honored,” says partner Richard Anderson.
Iron Fish credits grants and programs through the USDA for their ability to go international.
