DNR Hosting Ice Fishing Classes in Cadillac

If you’ve ever wanted to learn to ice fish, or are looking for an activity to get you out of the house this winter, the DNR can get you started.

The agency is hosting ice fishing classes through February.

They’ll be held at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center in Cadillac.

And they cover everything from equipment to use to regulations and techniques.

The class is $30 per person, and could set you up with a skill that lasts a lifetime.

“We want them to feel comfortable and going out on the ice that’s hanging I can do this with a little practice and I can be comfortable. I can feel confident, shorten the learning curve, make a little easier for me, just started and maybe for those that have a little more experience to help them learn a few new tricks,” said seasonal interpreter John Zakrajsek.

January’s class is filled up, but there are spots still available for February’s class.
