Pence Meets Afghanistan’s President on Unannounced Trip

Vice President Mike Pence was in Afghanistan this morning on an unannounced trip to meet with leaders.

For safety reasons, the trip was kept secret.

Pence touched down yesterday, meeting with the President of Afghanistan, who added that more senior Taliban leaders have been killed this year than in other years combined.

Pence also visited with U.S. troops, calling them “the greatest force for good.”

“Before I left the oval office yesterday, I asked the president if he had a message for our troops here in Afghanistan, and he looked at me without hesitation from behind the resolute desk and he said: “tell them I love them,” Pence says.

Pence announced that American armed forces will stay in Afghanistan until they eliminate the threat of terrorism to the United States.
