Bonus Firearm Deer Season Coming Up for Alpena County

If you live in Alpena County, there is a bonus firearm hunting season coming up for antlerless deer.

And people there will get paid for letting hunters use their land.

The DNR says you can hunt between January 4 and 7 and January 11 through the Jan. 14, as long as it’s on private land south of M-32.

The agency says it’s to help with bovine tuberculosis and align the amount of antlered deer with antlerless.

And that killing more antlerless deer can improve overall herd health.

A state program will pay landowners that allow deer hunting on their property.
