Grand Traverse Bay YMCA Collects Gifts For Victims Of Domestic Violence

A Northern Michigan YMCA is hoping to make the holidays a little brighter for victims of domestic violence.

The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA set up a giving tree, with gifts going to the Women’s Resource Center.

Each tag hanging on the tree includes a wish list of things such as pillows, pots and pans, socks, games and more.

Community members are encouraged to come in, grab a tag and then return the wrapped gift to the tree.

The YMCA has already been able to help two families from the Women’s Resource Center and just added a third.

“The Women’s Resource Center, they’re able to give to people who need assistance,” said Senior Community Engagement Director, Jenny Graber. “We also want our members to give back as well, and so our members are able to do this and give back to the community and provide for other community organizations who need it.”

The YMCA asks that all gifts be brought in by December 10.
