Kalkaska County Deputies Investigating Suspicious Death

The Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a suspicious death.

Police say Brodrick Ward, from Inkster, was found dead inside a home on Gonyer Road, in Springfield Township, around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Details are still very limited.

The Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office tells us they got a call from family members who live downstate.

The family told us that Ward left last Thursday to come up north to go fishing with friends.

Family members drove up Tuesday after not being able to reach Ward and they found his body inside the home.

The sheriff’s office, state police and a state police crime lab team are investigating the case.

They tell us they’re treating this as a suspicious death.

We did talk to the Forest Area Schools superintendent and he said all schools are in a “stay put” situation, where all of their exterior doors are locked and no one is allowed outside.

We have been in contact with the sheriff’s office and Ward’s family.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kalkaska Sheriff’s Office at (231) 258-8686.
