Big Rapids Rotary Collects 6,000 Pounds of Thanksgiving Food

A team of volunteers in Mecosta County is making sure everyone has something to eat this Thanksgiving.

It was all part of the Big Rapids Rotary 10th Annual Signature Service Project.

Volunteers put together boxes with food donated from retailers like Meijer, Walmart, and Save-A-Lot.

Each box includes items like a turkey, pies, potatoes and more.

They’re then picked up or delivered to 126 Mecosta County families in need.

“It’s personally my favorite day to be in rotary. It’s a huge program to become our signature program it really is great to bring together all of our membership and the young people from Ferris,” Ben Montgomery, Big Rapids Rotary Club said.

The Big Rapids Rotary Club thanks all who donated and volunteered, helping them give out 6,000 pounds of food this year.
