Deer Killed in Montcalm County Tests Positive for CWD
A federal lab has now confirmed a deer killed in Montcalm County tested positive for chronic wasting disease.
According to the DNR, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Veterinary Services Lab in Iowa confirmed the case.
The deer was killed last month in Montcalm County’s Sidney Township.
It’s the second confirmed case of CWD in a deer shot by a hunter in Montcalm County, and the 11th case confirmed in a free-ranging deer in Michigan.
There are currently three other deer, all from Montcalm County, being tested for the disease.
