After Tuesday’s attack in New York City, ISIS followers began posting messages of support online.

While the terrorist group has lost much of the battle in places like Syria and Iraq, experts say jihadists are making huge gains online by using social media as a tool for recruitment.

In the past year, terrorists have used vehicles to plow through crowds of people a total of five times.

In many of those cases they were either inspired or directed by online messages from ISIS.

Social media is currently the fastest way for groups like ISIS to spread messages to followers.

A new report in the U.K. finds that many people are concerned that technology companies aren’t doing enough to curb the spread of extremist material.
