Michigan Bill May Allow Golf Carts On State Trunk Line Highways

A Michigan bill that would allow golf carts to be driven on certain state trunk line highways was approved by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

The bill would allow villages or cities to request the use of golf carts on state trunk line highways from the Michigan Department of Transportation.

This would not include interstate highways.

However those driving trucks on M-115 in Cadillac say this could be dangerous when trying to slow down.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea because the trucks already have trouble slowing down and they going 30 or 45 miles per hour, but the golf cart is going to be going 15 miles per hour and I think it’s not a good idea,” says Rober McCoy, truck driver.

The bill will now have to pass the full House and Senate.
