Chippewa County Animal Shelter Receives Thousands of Pounds in Food Donations

The dogs at Chippewa County Animal Shelter have more than 3,000 reasons to be barking for joy.

The shelter in Sault Ste. Marie received thousands of pounds of dog food in just over 24 hours thanks to generous donors in the area.

The shelter says their shelves were bare and they were down to just two pounds of dog food earlier this week.

They then posted to social media for help.

Shortly after posting to Facebook the donations started pouring in.

“I can’t even count it there’s so much. The community has great support for our shelter and I think that’s why we do so well, because of that community support,” Shelter Director Holly Henderson, said.

Holly says the dogs should have enough food to last a year…but the shelter could use some more cat litter.
