Pilot OK After Crashing Plane on Beaver Island

The Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office says a pilot is OK after crashing a plane while trying to land on Beaver Island.

Pilot Scott Hoxie, of Grand Rapids, was trying to land at the Beaver Island Airport around 1 p.m. Sunday.

The sheriff’s office says Hoxie forgot to put down the landing gear and ended up landing on the belly of the amphibious plane.

No one was hurt, and the crash has been turned over to the FAA.
