“They decided to pick up our charter, they decided to work with us for a period of eight years which was a big deal as well,” said Eric Royston, head of Leelanau Montessori.

The Leelanau Montessori School is now relieved knowing the future of their school.

Bay Mills Community College decided to pick up their charter for the next eight years.

The Suttons Bay Public School board made the decision to let the lease and charter expire at the end of this year.

Which left the Montessori school to find a new building and charter and that will start next school year.

With that determined now, the school will begin working towards raising the funds needed for their new school.

“There are events lined up, there’s a 5k lined up in the next couple of weeks, there’s an evening of art lined up, there’s some different house parties,” said Royston. “It’s been very much a grass roots effort.”
