Do you think you could kayak for 42 miles?

More than 150 people will do it this weekend.

The Paddle Antrim Festival is back for a third year in a row.

The trip starts in Ellsworth Friday morning and finishes in Elk Rapids on Saturday evening.

Kayakers can either paddle the whole 42 miles or hop off at several designated areas.

Paddle Antrim puts it on every year.

Their goal is to protect the water by connecting people to the waterways with education and improving waterway access.

“This is a way for people to get out, we get out a lot of people from outside the area to experience our chain of lakes where they’ve never seen it before,” said executive director for Paddle Antrim, Deana Jerdee. “It’s a beautiful waterway, we get people out, they understand the importance of why we protect and why these waterways are so precious to us.”

The event kicked off Thursday with a party, and they’ve planned many other events throughout the weekend.
