Traverse City Pool Closer To Getting A Makeover By Friends Of Easling Pool

A Traverse City pool once in danger of closing is now closer to getting a makeover.

The Easling pool is in the Civic Center but was taken over by the YMCA in 2016 because of county budget issues.

The group Friends of Easling Pool has been there every step of the way making sure this pool stays open.

They just launched a capital campaign in August to raise $625,000 to make repairs like new decking, a UV filtration system, paint and many other upgrades.

They are already a quarter of the way to their goal.

“We’ve had a lot of generous people step up to donate money,” said Bridget Thuente, president of Friends of Easling Pool. “We’ve had individuals, foundations, doctors’ offices, restaurants, we’ve really felt a lot of support for this project.”
