Cadillac Sound Garden Revitalized With New Musical Instruments
The sounds of drums echoed in Cadillac on Friday, all to drum up support and recognition of a newly upgraded sound garden.
The Cadillac Sound Garden stands as an outdoor musical place near Lake Mitchell.
For years, the city says it’s been in dire need of repair.
The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the Cadillac Garden Club and the Cadillac Youth Advisory Committee pitched in to purchase four brand new instruments.
On Friday, Sept. 8, they had a ribbon cutting to showcase the garden.
Improvements were also made to the garden after it was vandalized in June.
The Garden Club says this will ensure the sound garden will live long into the future.
“It’s just wonderful,” says Kathy Simon, treasurer of the Cadillac Garden Club. “Every time we come down here, just to hear the people that truly enjoy it. The kids coming in. I was down here last weekend and there’s a bunch of kids coming down here and they renamed the Willow House. It’s just having a good time.”
Members from the Cadillac High School marching band also performed on the new instruments.
