Interlochen Community Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony For Public Library

Cheers from the Interlochen community after the groundbreaking of a long awaited public library.

A crowd gathered at the site for a new library building in Interlochen, a project many are calling an investment in the community.

The Interlochen Public Library has been raising funds toward construction for nearly three years.

The project is planned to be entirely donation funded requiring no taxpayer dollars.

Library staff say the new building used to be a pipe dream and getting to this point was truly a community victory.

“I again would like to thank the community. Every single person, every family member, for all they’ve done. They all worked hard and they all encourage us along the way and we appreciate them all so much,” said director Renee Kelchak.

Construction is planned to begin by the end of September.
