E. coli Levels Dropping at Sunset Park In Grand Traverse County
High levels of E.coli seen in weekly testing of the beach at Sunset Park in Grand Traverse County are now on their way down with no explanation as to why.
Right now it’s at a level two so it isn’t recommended you do anything more than wade.
The county’s environmental health director Dan Thorell says sometimes geese feces and storm water runoff can lead to high levels of E.coli.
That’s why they’ve since done additional testing on manhole covers located near the beach.
“One sample came back very low another sample was a little more suspect, it was higher, but it wasn’t extremely high and it is something that we’re actually going to be sampling again.”
Beaches were tested Wednesday and results come in Thursday.
