DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Pistons have a date and opponent to open their new home. Their first game at Little Caesars Arena will be Oct. 18 against the Charlotte Hornets. The Detroit Red Wings also will play there, opening Oct. 5 against the Minnesota Wild.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell says he might have more to say soon about the condition of defensive end Kerry Hyder. He was carted off the field in Sunday’s exhibition game at Indianapolis. Caldwell said after the game it looked like a “significant” Achilles tendon injury.
