Wexford County Animal Shelter Remains Closed

The Wexford County Animal Shelter will be closed longer after several dogs came down with a deadly disease.

Two weeks ago two dogs started showing signs of canine parvovirus and eventually had to be put down.

A third dog was also euthanized a week later.

Shelter staff and the Wexford County Sheriffs say the shelter will now stay closed until at least August 15 by the recommendation of the contracted county veterinarian.

Shelter volunteers say animals are still being monitored and no new signs of the disease has been seen.
