2 Michigan airports get federal funds for runway work

KINGSFORD, Mich. (AP) — Airports in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the southern portion of the state are getting millions of dollars in federal funds for improvements.

U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters of Michigan recently announced $4.8 million is going to Ford Airport in Kingsford and nearly $2.5 million will help fund work at Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport.

The funding for Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport is going to Kalamazoo County to rehabilitate runways. The money comes from the Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration as a part of the Runway Incursion Mitigation Program.
