Former Army Medic From Michigan Receives Medal of Honor

A former Army medic from Michigan received the Medal of Honor at the White House Monday afternoon.

James McCloughan was just 23-years-old when he was drafted into the Army in 1968.

He entered a kill zone nine times to rescue 10 U.S. soldiers, all while being pelted with shrapnel from a rocket propelled grenade.

McCloughan calls the battle the worst two days of his life.

He says the theme for his medal is “it came out of love.”

McCloughan’s wife Cherie was there to celebrate the honor with him.
