Former West Michigan Police Officer Sentenced to Jail for Unlawful Imprisonment

An ex-west Michigan police officer is going to jail for unlawful imprisonment.

Erich Fritz was originally charged with rape and kidnapping after pulling over a man and woman for drunk driving last July.

State police say Fritz took the man to jail, but drove the woman to a hotel where he’s accused of raping her.

Fritz admitted to having sex with the woman, but his attorney says it was consensual.

The judge had some harsh words for him.

Fritz will spend a year in jail, followed by five years of probation.
