Recapping the 53rd Annual Alpenfest in Gaylord

The Art Van Grand Parade capping off five days of fun at the 53rd Annual Alpenfest.

Gaylord’s annual Alpenfest came to an end on Saturday.

It was another successful festival, even with some uncooperative weather earlier in the week.

9&10’s Aaron Parseghian was there throughout Alpenfest and has a look back on what made this year stand out.

“We had some pretty rough weather but they still came,” said Festival attendee Bob Butler

Even with some rainy days, Gaylord’s 53rd annual Alpenfest did not disappoint.

“It was a very successful five days, lots of happy people through the town of Gaylord,” said Gaylord Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Taylar Akin

From the burning of the boogg, to the grand parade.

It was five days full of food, fun, music, and more.

A successful celebration for visitors and the community alike.

“It takes a lot to put this event on, and it was amazing to me how everybody came together, whether it was to move because of a weather issue or to come to an event and enjoy it at that point,” added Akin

There were competitions and relics of alpine tradition.

53 years and many more to look forward too.

“It was the 53rd but it was my first and I know I’m already looking forward to planning, innovating some new things for next year. So be on the lookout for that!” said Akin.
