Vice President Mike Pence joined members of the Naval Academy for a graduation ceremony.
He called for a moment of silence as a way to remember three class members who died before graduation.
Pence delivered the commencement address, where about 1,000 midshipmen were commissioned as officers.
While there, Pence also touched on the Trump administration’s promise to members of the military.
The president traditionally gives the speech, but with the president out of the country, it fell to the vice president.
