Grand Traverse County Township Adding New Million Dollar Water Tank

A Grand Traverse County community’s population is growing so much in just a few weeks they’ll be adding a million dollar water tank.

The tank will be near Harris and Cedar Run Road in Garfield Township.

Plans for a new tank started nearly a decade ago.

The township supervisor Chuck Korn says when Traverse City West Senior High School was built the area started to develop and this one million dollar tank will make a big difference

“A lot of the neighborhoods and the high school run off what we call pressure districts where there are pumps that maintain a pressure to provide water the firefighting water a storage tank will give you a more dependable and steady flow.”

The township board will decide a design for the new tank in June.
