Boy Taken to Boston Hospital for Treatment After Manton Motel Explosion

We’re learning more details about an explosion at a Manton motel.

A mother and her two children, caught up in the disaster, are still recovering.

It’s a story we first broke Wednesday on Michigan This Morning.

One of the badly burned children is heading to Boston for further treatment.

The explosion happened around 4 Wednesday morning at the Green Mill Motel in Manton.

Fire investigators and the Traverse Narcotics Team are looking into the cause of the fire.

They now tell us they have found some suspicious items, but have not said what.

Investigators say a woman and her two sons were found laying outside, suffering from severe burns.

They were airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital.

A family member tells us the mom and one of the boys are stable right now, with burns covering more than 40 percent of their bodies.

The other son was flown to Boston with burns on more than 70 percent of his body.

State police say they have ruled out arson, but are still looking for a cause.

A number of stores in the community are raising donations to help people who lived there begin to put their lives back together.
