Family Breaks Ground on New Event Center in Houghton Lake

A family dream one step closer to reality, the planned Northern Michigan Banquet Event Center broke ground today in Houghton Lake.

The family owned, 19,000 square foot facility, will provide space for wedding receptions, business expos, and more.

Owner mark Edwin Vick believes the community will get a lot out of having the event center.

He says it shows the community is on the rebound.

“I want to give back to the community and when this thing is successful and I know it is, it’s going to benefit everybody; myself, my family, but more importantly the community,” says Mark Edwin Vick, owner of NMBEC.

Construction is set to begin within a few weeks.

The family hopes the facility is done before next winter.
