Steam Railroading Institute Offers Northern Michigan Fall Color Tours

There will be a new, unique way to take in the beauty of Northern Michigan come this fall.

This October, The Steam Railroading Institute is bringing passengers on a diesel train from Mount Pleasant to Cadillac.

There will also be a shorter trip through the countryside leaving from Cadillac.

Tickets go quickly, so it’s important to order them ahead of time.

The train drops passengers off at the City Park which Cadillac Area Visitor’s Bureau says really helps boost downtown business.

“You’re looking at about 900 people getting off the train down in the city park on that Saturday afternoon, so it’s a huge economic boost for our downtown because it just floods our downtown with shoppers and people looking for food and just a good time downtown,” explains Joy Vandrie of the Cadillac Area Visitor’s Bureau.

There is also a trip from Kalkaska to Petoskey.
