Gov. Snyder, Tom Price Focus On Rising Opioid Epidemic

Governor Rick Snyder met with U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary, Dr. Tom Price Tuesday to focus on the rising opioid epidemic.

Kellyanne Conway, President Donald Trump’s secretary, joined Snyder and Price to discuss the president’s commitment to the issue.

Snyder mentioned Michigan’s recent Takeback Day program.

 “The numbers were staggering, nearly 600 pounds. Think about how many pills that is. Think about what more needs to be done. And it shouldn’t just be drug takeback day once a day, it should be every day,” said Snyder.

More than 40 people die every day from an overdose of prescription painkillers.
