Gladwin Pole Barn Destroyed in Fire, Several Animals Dead

People in Gladwin heard explosions Tuesday night when a large pole barn caught on fire.

The fire chief says it happened on South River Road in Gladwin.

No one was home at the time, and several chickens and ducks died in the fire.

One firefighter was also treated for heat exhaustion.

Fire crews were able to save a nearby home, although heat broke a window and damaged some of an exterior wall.

At this time, they’re not sure what caused the fire.
