Governor Snyder Appoints New Chippewa County District Court Judge

A new judge is coming to the Chippewa County District Court bench after the governor appointed him Monday.

Governor Snyder appointed Eric Blubaugh to the 91st District Court to replace Judge Elizabeth Church after she resigned.

Judge Blubaugh currently serves as referee for Chippewa County Family Court and magistrate for district court.

He previously has been a prosecutor for the county and the two local tribal courts.

Judge Blubaugh says he has big shoes to fill for both Judge Church and the previous Judge Michael McDonald.

"There’s a lot of transitional things to undertake, but I’m really excited about it and there’s great support from the community," Judge Blubaugh said. "The community has been very supportive of all of this and, so I look forward to it and I hope to do everyone proud."

Judge Blubaugh will have to seek re-election in 2018.
