DEQ Issues Citations Against Canadian Company Over Porcupine Mountains Drilling

There’s a dispute over drilling in the Upper Peninsula.

The Michigan DEQ issued citations against a Canadian company for breaking state laws after exploratory drilling the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park created rivers of mud.

The DEQ says Highland Copper created soil erosion and damaged wetlands.

The drilling was part of a study before securing a mining permit to set up shop on its adjacent land.
